Step 1 — Learn

Education words appear in almost every STEP reading passage and in the sentence-completion section. Learn each word with its Arabic meaning, its family and the phrases it normally travels with.

مفردات التعليم تتكرر كثيرًا في اختبار STEP. تعلّم كل كلمة مع معناها وعائلتها والعبارات التي ترد معها.

Learn the word, not only the translation

For every word, store four things: meaning, part of speech, one natural example and one collocation. STEP questions usually test the collocation, not the dictionary meaning.

احفظ لكل كلمة: المعنى، ونوعها، ومثالًا طبيعيًا، وعبارة شائعة ترد معها.

Word families win marks

Many STEP items give you the verb and ask for the noun or adjective: achieve → achievement → achievable. Learn the family together and the suffix tells you the part of speech.

كثير من الأسئلة تطلب صيغة أخرى من الكلمة، فتعلّم عائلة الكلمة كاملة.

Use the sentence, not the option list

Read the whole sentence first and predict the missing word before you look at the four options. Then choose the option closest to your prediction.

اقرأ الجملة كاملة وتوقّع الكلمة قبل النظر إلى الخيارات.

Watch academic register

Education passages prefer formal words: enroll (not sign up), assess (not check), compulsory (not must-do).

لغة النصوص الأكاديمية رسمية، ففضّل الكلمات الرسمية.
